  1. Tell the difference between absolute-pressure capsule (aneroid) and differential-pressure capsule (diaphragm of different pressure capsules)?

  2. Explain the difference between the pitot-static system and the pitot tube?

  3. What are the total pressure errors, static pressure errors and temperature errors?

Answer:

  1. The most striking difference between Absolute-pressure capsules (Aneroids) and differential-pressure capsules pressure capsule (diaphragm) is in the working principle of both. Aneroids work by involving a Static-pressure source and when the static pressure decreases, the capsule will move to the right. While the differential-pressure capsule involves a total-pressure source, when the total pressure increases, the capsule will move to the right as well. So the conclusion is the difference between the two lies in the source of the pressure.

  2. Pitot-static system is a combined system that utilizes static and dynamic pressure due to aircraft moving through the air. Components included in the pitot-static system include pitot tubes, static vent / static ports, ASI, Altimeter, Machmeter and VSI.

While the pitot tube is one component of the pitot-static system called the pitot head or pressure head.

  1. 1.) The total pressure error is the distance or difference from the total pressure measured by the total pressure or mathematically, the total pressure measured minus the total pressure.

2.) Static Pressure Error is the distance or difference from the measured static pressure with static pressure or mathematically, the measured static pressure is reduced by the static pressure.

3.) Temperature error is the difference or distance from the measured temperature to the temperature, mathematically written with the measured temperature minus the temperature.
